A lot of people seem confused about the actual idea behind FLAT Tryals. I thought I might just sum it up here. FLAT Tryals is basically a single-player car-racing game, where you get to race "genetically modified" cars from yesteryear. These include some of your favourite automobiles from the '70s, '80s and '90s conveniently modified to suit some specific "research" interest. What exactly might that be? Well, that could range from the downright "fast-with-no-handling" types to the "slow-and-smooth-without-a-reverse-gear" type. Once these cars go into the research base, the possibilities are countless...
So what should I have to do with it, you ask? Well, for one, you would need to prove to the manufacturers (the FLAT motor company) that their "inventions" are actually usable!
FLAT Tryals and its sequel-in-development FLAT Tryals: Unleashed
This is the temporary home of the humor-based, spoofy game that came into existence a year ago. FLAT Tryals was an attempt to make a game using only Open-source and non-proprietary tools. One year down the road, a sequel to the original is on its way out - FLAT Tryals: Unleashed attempts to take the original further up the ladder.
